Lake Chelan Outdoor Gallery: The Arts Council has been the leader in the development and maintenance of the Lake Chelan Outdoor Gallery, with the ongoing support of the City of Chelan and the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce. The Gallery includes original sculptures from local artists including Jerry McKellar, Mark Strain, Shannon Fharnham, and Richard Beyer. The Arts Council has purchased seven sculptures which are part of the permanent collection. In addition the Gallery highlights the Mural Project developed by the Lake Chelan Chamber about 20 years ago. Recently the community has restored the murals.

A complete list and locations of Outdoor Gallery displays can be found at the Chamber and on the website.

Grants and Sponsorships: Funds raised by the Arts Council are used to support the local cultural activities and provide art scholarships to youth. Grants have been given to: Bach Fest, Lake Chelan School District, Chelan Valley Players, Earth Day, the Lake Chelan Chamber Mural Project, and student art class scholarships. If a local group is interested in finding out more about grants and scholarships and would like the application form, visit the Arts Council Website

Art Classes for Kids and Adults: Each summer the Arts Council offers art classes to both kids and adults. “Kids Art in the Park” included 5 art classes in 2015. Many thanks to our teachers Pamela Schmidt, Parrie Pleyte, Concie Luna and Kelli Horner who donated their time and talents. The adult classes are sponsored in cooperation with Main Street Gallery and you may contact Barb at 509-682-9781 for more information.

Lake Chelan Creative Arts Festival: For the past six years the major fund raiser for the Arts Council has been the Lake Chelan Fine Arts Festival and Art by the Foot Silent Auction. We have changed the name to The Creative Arts Festival which will include not only original art and crafts but also vintage market and antiques. The festival is held the Third Weekend in August. In addition we will also have a kids area. The 2018 Festival will be held August 18 & 19. The Arts Festival has had strong support from community sponsors including: Lake Chelan Rotary, North Cascades Bank, Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, and KOZI.

You can be part of the Lake Chelan Arts Council. The Council is always looking for new ideas and new people interested in the arts, so please contact us if you would like to learn more or be part of this very active group.
